About Barnegat Light Beach
Barnegat Light sits at the northern tip of Long Beach Island in Ocean County, beneath 'Old Barney' — the historic Barnegat Lighthouse that gives the town its name. It's a quieter, more traditional LBI community known for fishing, the inlet, and calmer beaches away from the boardwalk crowds. Swimming centers on the summer with guarded beaches. Water temperature follows the open Atlantic — cool and bracing in the 60s°F in June, warming through July into the low-to-mid 70s°F by August and early September, then cooling through the fall.
