Carmel Beach Conditions & Surf Report

Carmel Beach is a crescent of soft white sand at the foot of the artsy, upscale village of Carmel-by-the-Sea on the Central Coast. Framed by wind-sculpted cypress trees and famous sunsets, it's one of California's most photogenic beaches — beloved for strolling (and as a dog-friendly beach) more than swimming, given the cold water and strong currents. The Pacific here is cold and currents can be strong, so check the safety flag and rip-current risk above, be ready for cold water, and swim near a lifeguard.
