Orleans sits at the elbow of Cape Cod, offering the best of both shores: Nauset Beach's big Atlantic surf on the ocean side and calm, warm-flats swimming at Skaket Beach on Cape Cod Bay. This split personality — wild surf or gentle bay — makes it a versatile Cape base for families and surfers alike. The North Atlantic here is cold even in summer — typically the low-to-upper 60s°F at the August peak — and cold the rest of the year.
