Mustang Island Beach Conditions & Surf Report

Mustang Island is a barrier island off Corpus Christi, home to the easygoing surf town of Port Aransas ('Port A') and 18 miles of Gulf beach — much of it open to driving. Known for fishing, laid-back beach camping, and some of the better surf on the Texas coast, it's a relaxed island getaway. The Gulf is bath-warm in summer (mid-80s°F) and mild in winter, warmer the farther south you go. Rip currents are the main hazard here, so check the safety flag and rip-current risk above, follow posted flags, and swim near a lifeguard.
