Padre Island Beach Conditions & Surf Report

Padre Island National Seashore protects the longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island in the world, a wild 70-mile ribbon of Gulf beach and dunes south of Corpus Christi. Famous for sea-turtle nesting (including the endangered Kemp's ridley), fishing, and solitude, it's a natural, untamed coast — bring supplies, as services are few. The Gulf is bath-warm in summer (mid-80s°F) and mild in winter, warmer the farther south you go. Rip currents are the main hazard here, so check the safety flag and rip-current risk above, follow posted flags, and swim near a lifeguard.
