About Ponce Inlet Beach
Ponce Inlet is a small, quiet town at the southern tip of the Daytona barrier island, where the Halifax River meets the Atlantic at Ponce de Leon Inlet. The red-brick Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse towers over town, and Lighthouse Point Park on the inlet has a dog-friendly inlet shore. New Smyrna Beach sits just across the inlet. Water is warm most of the year and cooler in winter. Rip currents are Florida’s deadliest beach hazard, so check the safety flag and rip-current risk above, follow posted flags, and swim near a lifeguard.
Ponce Inlet Beach FAQ
Are dogs allowed on the beach in Ponce Inlet?
Not on the Atlantic beach. Leashed dogs are welcome on the inlet shore at Lighthouse Point Park, but not on its elevated boardwalks after 10am.
Does Lighthouse Point Park charge a fee?
Yes. It’s $10 per vehicle, paid at the entrance booth, or $20 for an annual inlet-park pass. Regular Volusia off-beach parking passes don’t cover it.
Is it safe to swim near Ponce Inlet?
Currents near the inlet and its jetty can be strong. Swim in front of a staffed lifeguard tower, away from the inlet, and check the live rip-current risk above.
