About Wells Beach
Wells Beach is a long, sandy stretch of southern Maine coast beside the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge and rich tidal estuaries. Quieter and more family-oriented than its busier neighbors, it offers wide sand, birding, and a relaxed pace popular with returning summer families. Maine’s water is very cold — typically the mid-50s to low 60s°F even at the August peak, and colder the rest of the year.
