A dry town (no alcohol is sold), it's built around a family-friendly boardwalk with rides, shops, and a wide Atlantic beach. It's one of the most popular family destinations on the southern Jersey Shore. Swimming centers on the summer with guarded beaches. Water temperature follows the open Atlantic — cool and bracing in the 60s°F in June, warming through July into the low-to-mid 70s°F by August and early September, then cooling through the fall.
