About Melbourne Beach

Melbourne Beach is a small, quiet town on the barrier island south of Indialantic, across the Indian River from Melbourne. Ocean Park, at the east end of Ocean Avenue, is the main way onto its uncrowded Atlantic beach. South of town, the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge protects one of the busiest sea-turtle nesting beaches in the country. Water is warm most of the year and mild in winter. Rip currents are Florida’s deadliest beach hazard, so check the safety flag and rip-current risk above, follow posted flags, and swim near a lifeguard.
