About Fort Pickens Beach

The Fort Pickens Area covers the western tip of Santa Rosa Island in Gulf Islands National Seashore, beyond Pensacola Beach. It pairs miles of protected white-sand beach with Fort Pickens itself, completed in 1834, and Langdon Beach, the area's swim beach with a summer lifeguard. Gulf water here is bath-warm in summer and cool in winter. Rip currents are Florida’s deadliest beach hazard, so check the safety flag and rip-current risk above, follow posted flags, and swim near a lifeguard.
