About Perdido Key Beach

Perdido Key is the barrier island at Florida's far western edge, on the Alabama line. Perdido Key State Park protects a stretch of tall white dunes and undeveloped beach, home to the endangered Perdido Key beach mouse. There are no lifeguards. Gulf water here is bath-warm in summer and cool in winter. Rip currents are Florida’s deadliest beach hazard, so check the safety flag and rip-current risk above, follow posted flags, and swim near a lifeguard.
