About Mexico Beach

Mexico Beach is a small, quiet town at the eastern edge of Bay County, rebuilding since Hurricane Michael made landfall here in 2018. Its long, uncrowded beach has no high-rises, no lifeguards and no dogs inside city limits, and it's on Central time, unlike its neighbors to the east. Gulf water here is bath-warm in summer and cool in winter. Rip currents are Florida’s deadliest beach hazard, so check the safety flag and rip-current risk above, follow posted flags, and swim near a lifeguard.

Mexico Beach FAQ

Are there lifeguards at Mexico Beach?

No. The town has no lifeguards or warning-flag system, so swim with a buddy and check the live rip-current risk above.

Can I bring my dog to Mexico Beach?

Not on the beach inside city limits. Leashed dogs are welcome on St. Joe Beach just east, across the Gulf County line.

What time zone is Mexico Beach in?

Central time. Port St. Joe, Cape San Blas and the rest of Gulf County to the east are on Eastern time.
