About St. George Island Beach

St. George Island is a long, quiet barrier island off Apalachicola on Florida's Forgotten Coast, with no high-rises and a lighthouse at its center. Its east end is Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park, and most of its public beaches welcome leashed dogs. There are no lifeguards. Gulf water here is bath-warm in summer and cool in winter. Rip currents are Florida’s deadliest beach hazard, so check the safety flag and rip-current risk above, follow posted flags, and swim near a lifeguard.
