About Okaloosa Island Beach

Okaloosa Island is the barrier island between Fort Walton Beach and Destin's East Pass, home to the Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier, the Boardwalk's restaurants and the Gulfarium. Okaloosa County Beach Safety lifeguards cover its developed four miles in season, and the undeveloped east end is part of Gulf Islands National Seashore. Gulf water here is bath-warm in summer and cool in winter. Rip currents are Florida’s deadliest beach hazard, so check the safety flag and rip-current risk above, follow posted flags, and swim near a lifeguard.
