About Seaside Beach

Seaside is the pastel, picket-fence town on Scenic Highway 30A that helped start the New Urbanism movement after its founding in 1981, and it played the hometown in the film The Truman Show. Its beach is reached through the town's distinctive beach pavilions, with a South Walton Fire District lifeguard tower in season. Gulf water here is bath-warm in summer and cool in winter. Rip currents are Florida’s deadliest beach hazard, so check the safety flag and rip-current risk above, follow posted flags, and swim near a lifeguard.
